Denali Park Road
- Denali Park
- Full day, 4h19
- Up to 92 mi one way to Kantishna; most riders go a fraction of that
- Advanced
One of the best-known rides in Alaska: bicycles may travel the full 92-mile Park Road with no permit and no shuttle-bus fee, sharing a narrow, shoulderless road with buses, dust and wildlife. The first 15 miles to Savage River are paved and see the most traffic; beyond that private vehicles are barred and only permitted buses, bikes and hikers use the gravel road. Confirm current mile-marker access before planning a long ride: sections have been closed for bridge repair.
More details
🛞 Surface
paved (first 15 mi to Savage River) then graded gravel (mile 15 to 92)
Season
Road generally open to cyclists late May through mid-September; check current conditions, since a bridge failure near Polychrome (Pretty Rocks) has restricted travel past certain miles in recent years

- ~56 to 62 mi one way from Fairbanks
- Advanced
A long, fully paved road ride out to Chena Hot Springs Resort, the Fairbanks Cycle Club's marquee annual event (the Chena Hot Springs Bicycle Classic each June). Shoulders exist but are narrow in places; a serious car-bike collision on this road involving cyclists riding two abreast is a reminder to ride single file and stay visible.

Denali Highway
- Delta Junction
- Full day, 6h18
- 135 mi one way (Paxson to Cantwell)
- Advanced
One of Alaska's classic multi-day gravel rides, the full 135-mile Denali Highway between the Richardson Highway at Paxson and the Parks Highway at Cantwell. Most of the road is graded gravel that does not require a mountain bike; most riders take 2 to 4 days. Opened in 1957, it was the original road access to Denali National Park before the Parks Highway was completed in the 1970s, and it stays remote and lightly trafficked in a way the Denali Park Road, with its bus system, no longer is.
More details
🛞 Surface
paved for the first ~21 mi from Paxson and the last ~3 mi into Cantwell; the remaining ~110 mi is graded gravel
Season
Maintained mid-May through mid-September; unmaintained and not plowed in winter

- Talkeetna
- ~2h11

- Intermediate
A purpose-built flow singletrack system on Ester Dome, built 2009 to 2011 by Alaska Trails, Goldstream Sports and volunteers. The Outer Loop and Inner Loop are the signature rides: swoopy, bermed singletrack through south-facing forest, a step up from the flatter in-town paths.

Birch Hill Recreation Area Singletrack

- ~32 mi of summer singletrack across 21 mapped trails (Chinook, Blackhawk Loop, White Bear and others)
- Intermediate
Flowy summer singletrack on the same hillside as one of Fairbanks' premier Nordic ski trail systems. The two uses do not overlap in season: bikes are welcome once snow is gone, but the Nordic Ski Club's winter grooming means the trails are ski-only from mid-October to mid-April, unlike the fat-biking venues at Chena Lakes and Goldstream Valley.
