What it is like
Singletrack Advocates built this route through Hillside Park, running from Service High School to Hilltop Ski Area. It is part of Far North Bicentennial Park, Anchorage's largest park at 4,011 acres, and the network runs about 15 miles at an intermediate level. The season runs May to October.
The trail is about 8.1 miles from Anchorage. Campbell Creek Science Center is a free BLM nature center with easy creekside trails and salmon in season, a good stop for families. The Alaska Zoo, 0.8 miles away, keeps polar bears, brown bears and a wolverine, the only zoo in Alaska. Chugach State Park, Glen Alps, is a half-million-acre wilderness at the city's back door, 2.5 miles away.
