49th State Brewing

The feel

49th State Brewing is an Anchorage brewpub at 717 W. 3rd Ave with a rooftop patio overlooking Cook Inlet and the Alaska Range. The menu leans on Alaska products: the World Famous Yak Burger on a pretzel bun, Kachemak Bay halibut and chips, and a pound and a half of wild Alaska red king crab.

Outside, the beer garden takes leashed dogs and has a fenced off-leash dog park. Private theaters and event spaces host concerts, seminars, conferences and weddings, and bike racks sit out front on 3rd.

What to expect

Setting

A brewpub with a rooftop patio over Cook Inlet and a beer garden with a dog park.

Hours

11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 10pm Sunday. The beer garden is open daily 12 to 10pm.

Food and drink

Yak burger, halibut and chips, red king crab and buffalo chili made with free-range buffalo from Alaska's Indian Valley. The beer garden has no table service, so order at the counter.

Music and events

Trivia Mondays at 7pm, and concerts in the private theaters and event spaces.

Crowds and best time

Open seating is available at the bar top and on the first floor.

Parking

Bike racks out front on 3rd.

Family friendly.

Dogs

Dogs are allowed in the beer garden on a leash, and the fenced dog park is off-leash. Service animals are welcome, but the brewpub has no indoor animal-friendly space.
