Glacier Brewhouse
Anchorage
The feel
This is a downtown Anchorage beer hall built around wood-fired cooking and an indoor fireplace. The kitchen grills over Kachemak Bay alderwood, which gives Alaska seafood and meats a subtle smoky flavor, and the menu runs to wild-caught salmon, halibut and king crab, brick oven pizzas, rotisserie meats and a hearty Alaskan seafood chowder.
The spent grain bread comes from the brewing process, baked daily by Europa bakery. It is a full restaurant with a full bar and a casual dress code, and the house line is "where Alaskans meet Alaskans".
