Tent City Taphouse
Anchorage
The feel
Tent City Taphouse is a taphouse in downtown Anchorage, with stainless-steel-and-concrete decor that works Alaskan history into the room. The name honors the city's start in 1915 as a city of tents, set up to house Alaska Railroad employees. Pictures on the walls tell that story, and the staff will fill you in on it.
The bar pours 24 rotating Alaskan beers, trucked and flown in from places like Homer, Fairbanks and Ketchikan. The place is family owned and operated, and the menu runs from wings, burgers and steaks to ravioli, crab and halibut, with duck fat fries on the side.
