What it is like
Jim's Landing is the classic Kenai River trailhead in Cooper Landing, with trailhead access. The surface is gravel and the difficulty is easy. It is the launch point for Res Pass rides, and post-ride tailgate beers are part of the scene. The season runs May to October.
Cooper Creek Campground, 0.6 miles away, straddles the Kenai River with sites on both banks, and it is reservable on recreation.gov from mid-May to mid-September. Rafter's Lounge, 0.2 miles away, is a Princess Lodge bar with a deck hanging over the Kenai River. Kenai Lake, a turquoise glacial lake along the highway, has pullouts that make good photo stops.
