What it is like
The Goldstream Valley Fat Bike Trails, north of Fairbanks, form a winter network groomed by the local bike shop Goldstream Sports, not a government agency. The Fairbanks Cycle Club runs weekly winter fat-tire group rides on them. In summer the same trails work as singletrack and doubletrack, rated intermediate.
The trails are about 11 miles from Fox, in the Goldstream Valley. The Large Animal Research Station, 2.3 miles away, is a 130-acre University of Alaska Fairbanks facility housing muskoxen and reindeer, with public tours. For a meal afterward, Ivory Jack's is a long-running roadhouse near UAF known for burgers and beer.
A community-groomed winter fat-biking network in the Goldstream Valley north of Fairbanks, maintained by the local bike shop Goldstream Sports rather than a government agency. The Fairbanks Cycle Club runs weekly winter fat-tire group rides here.
