Silver Gulch Brewing Co.
Fox
The feel
Silver Gulch sits in downtown Fox, in the Goldstream Valley area, 11 miles up the Old Steese, and bills itself as the northernmost brewery in America. At the heart of it stands the historic Fox Gulch House, a former roadhouse and mercantile. The Fox Roadhouse closed in 2004, and after a 2006 change in state law let small breweries sell beer on site, the space was renovated and reopened in 2007.
The beer is made with Alaskan spring water from the Silver Gulch artesian spring near Fox, which gave the brewery its name. The kitchen turns out house-made dishes built on Alaskan ingredients. The pub seats 150, with upstairs space for 250 that hosts weddings, parties, corporate gatherings, brewery tours and beer dinners.
