Club Paris
Anchorage
The feel
Club Paris is a downtown Anchorage steakhouse that has been open since 1957, with a pink neon sign glowing on Fifth Avenue. Inside, a 1950s-era wood and Formica-top bar curves through the room and the interior is mostly original. The building was once a funeral home, and framed objects from opening day in 1957 hang on the walls, including a hand-drawn original dinner menu.
The kitchen is built around steaks that are char-broiled and cut and aged on the premises, along with fresh Alaskan seafood such as halibut and red king crab. The Selman family has run the place since the 1970s and 1980s.
