Alaska Aviation Museum

The feel

The museum sits on the south shore of Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world, with more than 87,000 takeoffs and landings per year. Ted Stevens International Airport is a half-mile away, and you can watch takeoffs and landings right from the museum.

Four hangars hold exhibitions and vintage aircraft, and over thirty aircraft are on display. In the Cecil Higgins Restoration Hangar, volunteers restore a WWII Curtiss P-40 while you watch. From the flight deck of Seybert Tower you can view seaplanes and hear the live radio feed from the Lake Hood tower.

Fees and passes

$23 non-residents, $19 Alaska residents, $16 seniors and military, $11 children (3-11). Free for kids two and under and members.

Good for kids, with children 3-11 at $11 and kids two and under free.

Season and access

March through October the museum is open daily 10am to 5pm. January and February it is closed Sunday and open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm. The building is wheelchair accessible.
