Alaska Native Heritage Center
Anchorage
The feel
Six life-sized village sites stand in a wooded area around Lake Tiulana: the Dena'ina Log Home, the Yup'ik/Cup'ik Qasgiq and Enet, the Inupiaq/St. Lawrence Island Yupik Qargi, the Sugpiaq Ciqlluaq, the Unangax Ulax, and the Eyak/Tlingit/Haida/Tsimshian Clan House and Carving Shed. Alaska Native Elders built them in the late 1990s to pass building methods to youth and to share them with visitors.
The Gathering Place stage hosts presentations, Alaska Native Games demonstrations and dance performances. In winter, visits are self-guided.
