Whiskey Gulch beach (Anchor Point)

The feel

Whiskey Gulch is a classic Cook Inlet surf-halibut beach where anglers cast bait from the gravel and some launch skiffs on the tide. It is a dispersed beach camp off the Sterling Highway, between Anchor Point and Happy Valley, and crowds are low.

The access road down to the beach is steep, and signs recommend 4x4 only. Loose rock beside the beach can be slick and deep. The tides expose large mudflats, and Cook Inlet is turbulent with strong currents.

May to September. Camping is free with a 14-day limit, and tents are allowed.
