Anchor Point tractor launch

Anchor Point

The feel

This is the westernmost road-accessible launch in America, at the Anchor River mouth beach, the westernmost point on the North American road system. A concessionaire tractor pushes your boat into the Cook Inlet surf for halibut.

There is no harbor, only the beach, so the launch works like the Deep Creek tractor launch. Crowds are high, and the day depends on the surf and the tide.

What to expect

Water and access
A concessionaire tractor launch at the Anchor River mouth beach. No harbor, just the beach.

License and rules

Crowds and best time

Hazards
Success hinges on surf and tide, and the launch can shut down on rough days.
Season and access

Mingo says

Look at conditions before you drive out. A rough day can shut the launch down.
