What it is like
Stoney Creek RV Park is a full-hookup base camp in the spruce along Stoney Creek, near Seward. It has about 80 sites open May to September, all reservable, with showers, laundry, WiFi and a dump station. A fee applies, and the park is minutes from Seward's harbor and trailheads.
Seward is about 4.6 miles from the park, and Seward KOA Holiday, 0.8 miles away, is a full-service KOA on the Exit Glacier road with 72 reservable sites. It can serve as a backup when this park is full. For a rest day, Seavey's IdidaRide Sled Dog Tours, 1.5 miles away, runs a summer cart ride behind a real sled dog team from a working Iditarod kennel. Grouse Lake is a roadside stocker with rainbow trout from June to September, and it is the go-to winter ice lake.
