Bear Lake (Seward)

The feel

Bear Lake is a hatchery-boosted silver salmon lake north of Seward, the freshwater complement to the town's saltwater coho. It sits in a valley off the Seward Highway and Bear Lake Road.

Hatchery silver smolt are released here, which supports a terminal silver return via Bear Creek. You fish from the bank around the outlet and Bear Creek, and the crowd is medium.

Species and timing

Coho (silver) of 6 to 12 lb in August and September. Sockeye are also present.
