Swiftwater Park

Soldotna

The feel

Swiftwater Park and Campground covers 59.88 acres plus a 0.62-acre island on the Kenai River at 675 Swiftwater Park Road in Soldotna. The current is faster than the town water, which means a cleaner swing and a more honest drift, and it suits flossing better than the slow in-town stretches.

Six stairs lead to the river, and 400 feet of elevated fish walks run along it. It has 90 campsites, a boat launch and medium crowds.

Mingo says

Plan around the sockeye run first, then return for the coho that follow it. Arrive early if you want a campsite, because none can be reserved.
