Rotary Park

Soldotna

The feel

Rotary Park is a small day use area on the Kenai River at the upstream edge of Soldotna, where the current is moderate. A boardwalk of 625 ft and a three-quarter mile trail lead to the river, and the approach is the same short flip as anywhere in the Soldotna reach.

Anglers fish from the bank with spin or fly gear for sockeye and coho, and crowds run medium. The park has river access stairs and riverfront boardwalks, and there is no camping and no launch.

Mingo says

Plan around the sockeye run first, then return for the coho that follow it. Look up the emergency order before each trip, since limits change during the season.

Before you go

  • Pay the $8 day use fee, or buy a city season pass at the Centennial fee booth.
  • Leave the boat and camping gear at home, since the park has no launch and no camping.
  • Check the current ADF&G regulations at https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=sportbyareasouthcentral.main before you cast.
