Swede Lake

The feel

Swede Lake sits 2 miles south of the Denali Highway, and the fishing is excellent. It lies 2 miles south of Little Swede Lake, which has its own pull-off along the road.

The catch changes with the season. Lake trout bite all year, burbot are mostly a winter fish, and Arctic grayling turn up in spring and summer. Whitefish are here too.

Two miles south of the Denali Highway, near mile 16.8, and 2 miles south of Little Swede Lake.

Aim for winter if you want burbot, and spring or summer if grayling is the goal. Lake trout fishing holds up in every month.
