Crosswind Lake

The feel

Crosswind Lake is a remote, clear lake of 9,182 acres with a maximum depth of 120 feet. It is mostly a fly-in lake or a winter destination, and it offers both open water and ice fishing.

Most people come in winter on well groomed trails from Lake Louise or Tolsona Lakes along the Glenn Highway. Summer access by ATV is very difficult in the wet terrain.

What to expect

Water and access

A 9,182 acre clear lake, 120 feet deep at most. Reached by air, or in winter by snowmachine on groomed trails from Lake Louise or Tolsona Lakes. The trails run between 14 and 18 miles and take 30 to 60 minutes.

Species and timing

Arctic grayling, lake trout, burbot and whitefish. Open water and ice fishing are both available year-round.

Hazards

Wet terrain makes summer ATV access very difficult.

• Start from Lake Louise, where a public campground and accommodations are available.
• Plan around a trail of 14 to 18 miles each way for a winter snowmachine trip.
