Sixmile Creek/Knik Arm

The feel

Red salmon return to the mouth of Sixmile Creek from mid-July through mid-August. The open water is the salt water seaward of a steel cable stretched across the creek mouth.

Fishing upstream of the signs and cable is barred at all times, and snagging is not allowed. Red salmon are also called sockeye, and the fish listed here are July and August sockeye, with peak fishing around mid- to late July.
