What it is like
DeLong Lake is a stocked city lake in southwest Anchorage near the airport, with a fishing dock that suits kids and quick after-work casts. The parking area is off Jewel Lake Road, about 0.3 mile north of Raspberry Road, and bait and multiple hooks are allowed. Rainbow trout and landlocked salmon are stocked here, and the best window is May to September. The lake is open year round, but verify current rules before you go.
DeLong Lake is about 4.2 miles from downtown Anchorage, with more of the city's stocked lakes close by. Jewel Lake, about 1.5 miles off, is a stocked lake with rainbow trout, Arctic char and landlocked salmon. Campbell Creek's kids-only king salmon fishery runs on the last weekend of June, about 1.9 miles away.
