Sheep Creek (Parks Highway)

The feel

Sheep Creek is a roadside clearwater stream, and you do not need a boat. Pullouts sit right off the Parks Highway between Willow and Montana Creek, and you fish from the bank on foot.

In midsummer the stream fills with pinks and chum. Crowds run medium. Anglers use spin, bait or fly gear from the bank, and chinook and coho are in the stream too, though king retention is frequently closed.

Species and timing

Pinks in July and August at 3-5 lb, in even years. Chum in July and August at 6-10 lb. Chinook and coho are also present.

King retention is frequently closed. Verify current rules. The stream is in the Northern Cook Inlet (Mat-Su) Area.

Medium crowds. Pink and chum action is strong in July and August.
