Kenai River late-run sockeye salmon

The feel

This is the largest sockeye salmon sport fishery in the state, and it is widely popular with residents and visitors alike. It is fished from shore, with many access points off the road system, so you do not need a boat to get on the river. The run is described as late June to August, and the fishery is managed from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Soldotna Area Office.
