Bings Landing SRS
Sterling
The feel
Bings Landing State Recreation Site has boardwalks above the Moose confluence, immediately above Class II Naptowne Rapids, with exposed boulders and broken water. State Parks runs the busiest middle river ramp here, along with the boardwalks, parking and launch.
The site has toilets, water, a picnic shelter and trails. Anglers fish the boardwalk frontage from the bank or from a drift boat for coho, sockeye and rainbow trout.

Mingo says
Fish early, since drift boats keep the launch busy. Plan for July and August sockeye, or August and September coho.
Before you go
- Budget $5/day for parking, $25 for the launch and $20/site for camping.
- Fix beads within 2 inches of the hook, or let them slide freely on the line or leader.
- Check the current ADF&G regulations at https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=sportbyareasouthcentral.main before you cast.
