Izaak Walton launch (Kenai/Moose confluence)

Sterling

The feel

The launch sits at the Kenai and Moose rivers junction off the Sterling Highway, a scenic confluence and a red-salmon magnet in July. It is a popular spot for bank and boat anglers during the red run, and crowds are high.

A 31-site campground sits in a spruce setting beside the launch, with picnic tables, fire rings and vault toilets. The launch gives access to the middle Kenai and the Moose River. Drift boats, bank anglers and spin casters all work the water here, and the site is also where the Alaska state record pink salmon was caught.
