Eklutna Tailrace (Knik River)

The feel

This is a warm-water tailrace on the Knik River near Palmer that stacks up hatchery kings and silvers. It is a Valley favorite with easy access, and you fish it from the bank with spinning gear or a fly rod.

The kings run in June and July at 10 to 25 lb, and the silvers follow in August and September at 6 to 10 lb. Crowds are medium.

Chinook (king) in June and July, 10 to 25 lb. Coho (silver) in August and September, 6 to 10 lb. Season runs June through September.
