What it is like
Talkeetna River Park is a walkable borough campground at the edge of downtown Talkeetna, near the river confluence. It has 20 sites open May to September, first come, first served, with toilets, water and riverfront sites. A fee applies, and the town is a short walk away.
The park is in Talkeetna, and Denali Brewing, 0.1 miles away, has a full kitchen and live music on the deck summer weekends. Riverside RV & Camper Park, 0.2 miles away, is reservable with 30 sites, so it is the option when this first-come park is full. The Fairview Inn is a roadhouse where climbers and legends have propped up the bar for a century.
