Fairview Inn
Talkeetna
The feel
The Fairview opened in 1923 as a roadhouse, and climbers have propped up its bar for a century. Photographs line the walls, and an old piano and a bear hide on the ceiling set the room. Out the back, an outdoor pavilion extends behind the bar, and the inn also has a beer garden with games.
In summer the crowd is climbers, tourists and locals, and the bar can be packed. Winter is much quieter, with only a few locals. Seven rooms upstairs are rented, each with its own name.
