Jonesville Coal Hills (Sutton)
Palmer
The feel
The camping is informal and free, in the old Jonesville coal-mine hills near Sutton, near milepost 61 of the Glenn Highway. The reclaimed Jonesville Mine site and nearby trails see the heaviest recreation, including ATV riding and camping or RVing.
The area has no developed campground. Roads are rough old mine roads, and the area is affected by overuse, misuse and a general lack of planning.
