Wander Lake Trail
The feel
This is an easy loop around Wander Lake in the Wedgewood Wildlife Sanctuary. The trail is compacted gravel with no elevation changes, so it works for a stroller or a wheelchair, and plenty of benches line the way.
Along the loop you pass a beaver hut, a water meadow, photography blinds, shallows that attract wading birds and an observation deck. Fourteen interpretive signs run through the sanctuary's trails. Moose, red foxes, flying squirrels and snowshoe hares live here, and a checklist of more than 100 bird species is available.
