What it is like
Reflections Lake is a flat birdwatching loop near Palmer, running over the Palmer Hay Flats with mountains mirrored in still water. The loop is flat, so it suits an easy outing rather than a climb, and birdwatchers can take their time. The lake is open May to October.
The Wasilla Creek and Rabbit Slough coho salmon fishery, 0.7 miles away, sits downstream of the Alaska Railroad bridge and is reached mainly by boat. Palmer Hay Flats Overlook is a sprawling wetland refuge with waterfowl, moose and Pioneer Peak on the skyline. Palmer is about 7.2 miles from the lake.
