Tutka Bay Lagoon

The feel

Tutka Bay Lagoon is a salmon spot near Seldovia where anglers fish for sockeye or pink salmon, and most choose to snag. Sockeye run from mid-June through July, and pink salmon run from late-June through August.

The lagoon is reached by boat, mostly from the Homer harbor, and the way in is open only on high tides. It is ocean water, so the tide decides when you can get in.

Aim for late June through July, when sockeye and pink salmon are both running. Check the tide table before you leave the harbor, since a low tide shuts you out of the lagoon.
