Jakalof Bay Dock and Skiff Launch
Seldovia
The feel
This is a working dock in Jakolof Bay, protected from the open ocean, with Jakolof Bay Road running from it to the city of Seldovia. The bay is also home to an oyster farm and a marine research laboratory, so you share the water with more than anglers.
The float that ran parallel to the beach is no longer usable and is being decommissioned. The approach from shore to the water stays in place for use for the foreseeable future or until the dock is replaced.
What to expect
- Water and access
- Sheltered bay water. Reach it by road from Seldovia or by boat from the Homer Harbor.
- License and rules
- Vessels are limited to 27 feet and shorter, and regular users sign a hold-harmless agreement.
- Hazards
- The float beside the beach is no longer usable, so launch from the approach.
- Season and access
- The City of Seldovia is working on a grant to replace the dock.
Mingo says
Check the dock's condition before you haul a boat out here. The float is gone from service and a replacement is still being funded.
Before you go
