Seldovia Slough (shore fishing)

The feel

This is one of the few places where you can catch a king right off a road bridge, when the spring slough run pushes in. You fish on foot from the Seldovia Slough bridge and the town dock, both a short walk from the harbor.

Kings come off the bridge in late May and early June, and reds and silvers come off the dock in mid-summer. Seldovia has no road in, so everyone arrives by ferry, water taxi or plane, and crowds stay low.

Water and access

Walk-on access at the Seldovia Slough bridge and the town dock. Seldovia has no road access; reach it by AMHS ferry or water taxi from Homer, or fly in.

Species and timing

Chinook (king) in May and June, a small run. Sockeye and coho (silver) later, with coho running July through September at 6 to 12 lb.

Bank fishing with spin gear or bait.

Crowds and best time

Crowds are low. Kings come off the slough bridge late May to early June.

Shore infrastructure is limited and tide dependent.
