Kenai Lake (Cooper Landing)
Cooper Landing
The feel
Kenai Lake is a deep turquoise lake at the head of the Kenai, over 20 miles long and 500 ft deep. The shoreline is steep, so bank access is limited and most anglers fish from a boat, trolling or jigging for lake trout and Dolly Varden. Rainbow trout are in the lake too.
Crowds are low. The Quartz Creek Campground boat launch is the usual put-in, and it is also where boats leave for the lake's remote sites. The lake's outlet becomes the Kenai River about two miles east of Quartz Creek Campground.

Mingo says
Fish for lake trout from June through August, then switch to Dolly Varden from July into September. Keep an eye on the sky, because calm water can turn rough fast.
