Beach Lake

The feel

Beach Lake is a stocked lake listed under Eagle River, in the Anchorage Bowl area. The stocking is rainbow trout and land-locked king salmon, and Arctic grayling are listed as well.

The lake is best fished from a canoe or inflatable. The drive in is two miles down Beach Lake Road, after you turn west off the Birchwood exit past Chugiak High School.

Season and access

From MP 20.9 Glenn Highway, take the South Birchwood exit and turn west past Chugiak High School. Drive roughly 0.9 mile to Beach Lake Road, turn left and drive 2 miles to the lake.

Pack a small boat rather than planning to fish from shore. Beach Lake Road is the left turn that leads to the water.

• Load a boat before you leave town.
• Count 0.9 mile from the exit to Beach Lake Road, then 2 miles to the water.
