What it is like
Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site Campground is a quiet 12 site camp close to the Alaska Range, at Mile 238 Richardson Highway south of Delta Junction. The creek has good fishing access, and there are vault toilets and a boat launch, though no hookups. The campsites cannot be reserved, and a fee applies.
The campground is about 25 miles from Delta Junction. Donnelly Lake, 6.1 miles away, is a small stocked rainbow trout lake reached by a short trail. Donnelly Dome is a short, steep out and back climb to a landmark dome with sweeping views over the Tanana Valley. Coal Mine Road Lakes are eight small lakes with Arctic char, lake trout and rainbow trout.
A 12 site campground at Mile 238 Richardson Highway south of Delta Junction, quiet and close to the Alaska Range with good creek fishing access.
