Big Delta State Historical Park Campground
Big Delta
The feel
This campground sits at Rika's Roadhouse historic site, 8 miles north of Delta Junction at Mile 274.5 Richardson Highway. Rika's Roadhouse served travelers on the Valdez-to-Fairbanks Trail from 1913 to 1947, and the log structure was built in 1913.
The roadhouse bedroom and kitchen are furnished in the style of the 1920s and 1930s, with furnishings donated by local residents through the Delta Historical Society. The society also keeps a museum in a sod-roofed cabin, with blacksmith tools, horse tack, dog harnesses and sleds from 1900 to 1950. The McCarty Station telegraph station was established on the grounds in 1907.
