Lower Russian Lake
The feel
The trail follows the valley of the Russian River, mostly wooded with frequent open areas that look out to mountains and lakes. The first 3.5 miles are an accessible broad path with gentle climbs, a gentle forest grade that leads to Lower Russian Lake.
Barber Cabin on the lake is a 16 x 20-foot log cabin that sleeps up to 6, and a rowboat with oars goes with it. Rainbow trout fishing and boating are the draw on the water, and the area has a particularly high concentration of bears.
