Musk Ox Farm
Palmer
The feel
This non-profit farm sits two miles north of Palmer, just off the Glenn Highway. Most of it is outside.
The prized product is qiviut, the winter undercoat that is gently hand-combed from the animals every spring. It lacks the lanolin of sheep's wool, and the gift shop sells qiviut pieces and items by local Alaskan artists. The native name, Oomingmak, translates to "the bearded ones".
