Eklutna Lake
Chugiak
The feel
The lake is 7 miles long, fed by glacial and freshwater streams, in a valley carved by Eklutna Glacier. The valley has 25 miles of trails. Moose, brown and black bears, mountain goats and Dall's sheep live in the valley.
Late summer brings berry picking on the Bold Ridge and Twin Peaks trails, and fall colors draw people too. The Lakeside Trail follows the lakeshore for 7 miles and is open to hiking, biking and skiing.

Mingo says
Launch early, since strong winds sometimes develop in the afternoon. Come in autumn if you want the fall colors, since they are popular.

- Carry your boat down to the water, since the launch is for hand-carry vessels and only non-motorized boats and electric motors are allowed.
