What it is like
Girdwood Townsite is the funky ski-town enclave in Girdwood, with galleries, bakeries and rainforest trails tucked under Alyeska's peaks. The season is year-round. It is easy to stroll the downtown, then head out on the rainforest trails for a change of pace.
In Girdwood, the Girdwood Brewing Company, 0.8 miles away, has a spacious beer garden with fire pits, rotating food trucks and good dogs always welcome. The Girdwood Valley Trail is a gentle 6 mi paved loop that stitches the ski town together, a good pick for a rest day. Chair 5 serves burgers and a towering whiskey wall, with live music or karaoke some nights.
