Lowell Point (Seward shore)

The feel

This is rocky Resurrection Bay shoreline, a short drive south of Seward. You fish from the bank, on the beaches and along the breakwater wall on Lowell Point Road, 3 mi south of town.

Spin gear and bait are the usual methods, and crowds are medium. The catch is coho, pink salmon, rockfish and Dolly Varden, with rockfish along the rocky shore.

Water and access

Saltwater shore fishing on Resurrection Bay. Beaches and the breakwater wall along Lowell Point Road, 3 mi south of Seward.

Species and timing

Coho (silver) in August and September at 6-15 lb. Pinks (humpies) also run. Dolly Varden in May, August and September at 10-16 in. Rockfish along the rocky shore.

Bank fishing with spin gear or bait.

Crowds and best time

Medium crowds. Silvers and pinks move to the head of the bay in August to September.

Parking

Small parking areas, tide dependent.

Season and access

August to September for silvers; sea-run Dollies gather around the Tonsina Creek mouth in May and late summer.

Aim for August and September, when the silvers and pinks are in the bay. Fish the incoming tide up to high tide.

• Check the tide before you drive out, because the small parking areas are tide dependent.
• Pack spin gear and bait for bank fishing.
• For sea-run Dollies, head to the Tonsina Creek mouth in May or late summer.
