Stariski State Recreation Site

The feel

Stariski is a small, quiet campground away from crowds, on a high bluff overlooking Cook Inlet at mile 152 of the Sterling Highway, five miles north of Anchor Point. The views take in Mount Augustine, Mount Iliamna and Mount Redoubt.

The site covers 60 acres, with 13 campsites, picnic sites and a picnic shelter. Camping is the draw here, and there is no fishing at the site.

$20 per night, first come, first served.

Season and access

May to September. The site is ADA accessible.

Come between May and September, when the camp is open. Aim for a clear day, since the volcano views over Cook Inlet are the reason to stop.

• Keep your RV within the 35 foot limit.
• Leave the fishing gear behind, since there is no fishing at the site.
• Plan to stay no more than 14 days.
