Eklutna Lakeside South Trail

The feel

This is an easy walk through boreal forest that starts at the Eklutna Lake campground, crosses Eklutna River and ends just short of the lakeshore. It is easy to continue off-trail a short distance to the water's edge.

Wildlife and bugs are common near the lake. The valley is home to moose, muskrats, brown and black bears, ptarmigan, mountain goats and Dall's sheep, and the trailhead area has interpretive displays and a telescope for watching wildlife and lake activity.
