A weathered bronze fisherman, seven feet tall, stands inside a six-sided gazebo whose pillars carry the names of Homer mariners lost at sea, most from the commercial fishing fleet. Sculptor R.T. Wallen made it; the community dedicated it in 1987. It is the gathering point every spring for the Blessing of the Fleet, and one of the most visited stops on the Spit.
