Dorothy Page Museum & Old Wasilla Townsite
Wasilla
The feel
Relocated log cabins, a schoolhouse and a bathhouse huddle around the original 1917 railroad-town site. Local historians preserved them because so much of the town's history was being lost to development. The line-up includes Wasilla's 1917 one-room schoolhouse, the Paddy Marion cabin, Shorty Gustafson's barn, the Blacksmith shop and Wasilla's second Post Office.
You can sit in the first schoolhouse, look over the sleighs and carriages in Shorty's Barn, step into an old miner's cabin and mail a postcard from the Old Wasilla Post Office. Bring a lunch and picnic at the town site, with views of the Chugach and Talkeetna ranges.
