What it is like
Denali South Viewpoint, near Trapper Creek, is a Parks Highway pullout with interpretive signs and a full-mountain Denali view. The viewpoint sits at 640 feet and is open year-round. It is the classic Denali pullout, reached from the Parks Highway, so the view is the reason to stop.
The viewpoint is about 19 miles from Trapper Creek, so a camp nearby makes a useful base. K'esugi Ken Campground, 3.2 miles away, is reservable with 42 sites plus cabins, and it has big-mountain trails and an interpretive center. Moose Flats Loop Trail is a fully accessible loop around two ponds, with a clear-day view of Denali.
