Valdez Harbor boat launch
Valdez
The feel
This is a well-run ramp ringed by mountains, with launches into the mountain-walled fjords of eastern Prince William Sound. It is rarely a zoo compared with Whittier or Seward, though the crowd runs medium.
The drive in is long, over Thompson Pass. Near town, strong hatchery pink and silver runs draw anglers at Allison Point, and boats go out for halibut, rockfish and lingcod.
