Valdez Harbor

The feel

This is the City of Valdez harbor at 300 N. Harbor Dr., split into a North Basin with 489 slips and a South Basin with 127 slips. It is open seven days a week all year, and a self-pay launch ramp serves boats that do not need moorage.

Restrooms and showers are in both basins. The showers and laundry run on tokens, and the token machines work around the clock. Boats crawl through the entrance, breakwater and harbor at three miles per hour or the slowest safe speed.

License and rules

No fishing off the launch ramp, launch dock or main floats. Fishing is prohibited in specific areas, so follow the posted signs. Boats that arrive by road must register first.

Parking

Trailers and truck and trailer combinations can be left in the parking lot. Register at the Harbormaster's office to ask about parking options. No parking fee is listed.

Hazards

Speed limit in the entrance, breakwater and harbor is three miles per hour, or the slowest safe speed.

Open seven days a week, all year. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Go in summer if you need the office, since its hours run longer then. Come by road? Stop in at the Harbormaster before you launch.
